Cron Job

Postby Chris Teel » Thu Jun 22, 2006 5:56 am

I'm trying to set up the cron job to run the back up but having problems.

/home/diyautos/public_html/img/run.php
php -f /home/diyautos/public_html/img/run.php

I tried both of these and the first one gives me this:

/home/diyautos/public_html/img/run.php: line 1: ?
: No such file or directory
/home/diyautos/public_html/img/run.php: line 2: /**********************************************************
: No such file or directory
/home/diyautos/public_html/img/run.php: line 3: core.12435: command not found
/home/diyautos/public_html/img/run.php: line 4: syntax error near unexpected token `uses'
/home/diyautos/public_html/img/run.php: line 4: ` * (uses the MySQL export library from *
'

and the second one does nothing.
what should I do?

scheduling the backup

Postby davidgwalker » Thu Jun 22, 2006 9:23 am

Hi Chris,

Well, to start with you should test it by typing in your browser the full url:
http://www.[your-domain]/img/run.php

(by default this would be:
http://www.[your-domain]/phpMySQLAutoBackup/run.php
but in your case you have used the folder name: img )

and it should run fine (with no output) and email the backup to you, so long as you have configured it corrrectly, if not this should show you the error.

If that runs OK, stop wasting your time with cron jobs and use phpJobScheduler to run the backup:
http://www.dwalker.co.uk/phpjobscheduler/

Cheers

Dave.
