Anyone like to make any comments?

The new version will hopefully allow you to FTP the backup file to a remote server.

How about adding the ability to password protect the archive?

Hi,

I have spent some time looking into adding a password to the zip file already, and can conclude:

1. adding the password to the zip will not protect it from a determined hacker,
2. currently there is no simple method using PHP to add a password to the compressed file.

Anyone got any ideas here?

[I have opened this section: phpMySQLAutoBackup to the public, so please post suggestions, even if you are not a member. Will be left open to the public until the spammers find it]

If this is true, Dave, why bother with

There's some discussion here about using gpg http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21160

Or the php gzencode function which seems to already be incorporated in the version of phpmyadmin_export.php that you're using http://us.php.net/gzencode
