MYSQL Username Permissions - minimum required

Postby Loopi » Mon Feb 11, 2008 11:39 am

Hi,

I wonder if you could tell me the minimum permissions needed in order to run the backup script please (I don't want to give full access if its not needed).

I'm assuming the initial first run requires different permissions to the repeat run of the script. I would appreciate both if possible please.

These are the ones listed in my admin program that I can set.

SELECT
CREATE
INSERT
ALTER
UPDATE
DROP
DELETE
LOCK TABLES
INDEX
REFERENCES
CREATE
TEMPORARY TABLES

Thank you

Hi, and welcome,

Good question...

For the initial setup it needs:
SELECT
CREATE
INSERT
UPDATE
INDEX

Once setup it will need:
SELECT
UPDATE

If this works or fails let me know?

Cheers

Dave
